Residente ng  San Agapito, Isla Verde magkakakuryente na

TULOY na tuloy na ang Solar Electrification Project sa San Agapito, Isla Verde matapos lagdaan ang  Contract of Lease sa pagitan ng Batangas City Government at ng Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), project proponent, para sa operasyon, maintenance at management services  ng Isla Verde Solar Photovoltaic Plant sa loob ng 25 taon.

Ito ay nilagdaan ni Mayor Beverley Rose Dimacuha at Mr. Alfredo Panlilio, senior vice president at head ng Customer Retail Services at Corporate Communications ng Meralco, nitong Martes, Enero 22.

Ang nasabing proyekto ay isang malaking ehemplo ng public private partnership alinsunod sa Batangas City PPP Code o Ordinance No. 3, s. 2013 para sa ibayong kaunlaran ng lungsod.

Pagkatapos ng contract signing, tinanggap ni Mayor Dimacuha ang Notice of Award  habang tinanggap naman ni Panlilio ang Notice to Proceed, hudyat ng simula ng proyekto na magbibigay ng elektrisidad sa may 31 kabahayan sa nasabing barangay.

Magsisimula ang planta sa total generating capacity na 0.1920MW gamit ang Solar Photo Voltaic Cells.

Ang lighting ceremony ay nakatakdang isagawa sa February 15, isang kaganapan ng matagal na panahon ng paghihintay ng mga taga-Isla Verde na mabiyayaan ng kuryente at malasap ang ginhawa at benepisyong dala nito sa kanilang buhay.

Isa rin ito sa mga layunin  ni dating Mayor Eduardo Dimacuha na binigyang katuparan ni Mayor Beverley.

Nilagdaan ni Mayor Beverley and deed of donation noong nakaraang taon para sa 615 units ng solar panels, inverters at iba pang equipment upang masimulan na ang nasabing proyekto.

Ayon kay Thelma Nayve, relationship manager ng Meralco Batangas, “medyo nagkaroon po tayo ng delay sa project dahil sa ating application for regulatory permit sa Energy Regulatory Commission. Alam naman po natin na medyo marami talagang requirements para makapag-secure nito. Subalit ngayon po, ok na at all systems go na po tayo.”

Bukod kay Mayor Dimacuha, sumaksi rin sa contract signing sina City Administrator Narciso Macarandang, City Legal Officer Teodulfo Deguito, Environment and Natural Resources Officer Oliver Gonzales at City Planning and Development Coordinator Januario Godoy.

Tumayong witnesses sa panig ng Meralco sina Bernard  Castro, vice-president at head ng South Distribution Services at Ma. Corazon  Pilapil, manager ng Meralco Batangas Business Center.|Jersosn J. Sanchez
