3 food manufacturing firms in Batangas, undergo refresher training on food safety

BATANGAS — Three food manufacturing firms in the western part of the province underwent a refresher training on food safety conducted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Batangas at each firm’s production plant, April 26.

These firms include Samahan ng mga Inang Gabay at Lakas ng Aktibong Komunidad (SIGLA), Yakap at Halik Multipurpose Cooperative Batangas 1 in Calatagan, Batangas, and Cristie Food Seasonings in Lian, Batangas,

The training covered topics on current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) such as GMP organization, education and training, premises, plant construction and design, equipment, sanitation and hygiene, supervision, sanitary facilities, maintenance and sanitation, process control, chemical control, quality management, testing of reprocessed products, testing of returned goods, laboratory facilities and control, documentation, quality audits, warehouse and distribution, receiving and shipping, recall and traceability, retention of samples, and subcontracting of manufacture.

All the employees of the three food manufacturing firms participated in the training. Overall, the training helped the participants improve their understanding of food safety requirements, their importance and benefits in their food business, and their adherence to the standards set forth by the Food Safety Act of 2013.
