AboitizPower through its geothermal arm, AP Renewables Inc. (APRI) and its CSR arm – Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (AFI) showed its support to its host communities in MakBan (Calauan and Bay in Laguna and Sto. Tomas City in Batangas); and Tiwi in Albay as it quickly responded to the needs of 5,332 typhoon-affected individuals through a relief operation which lasted from October 25-28.
Amid the typhoon, APRI employees packed all the essential goods as early as October 24. Each care package includes 2kgs of rice, assorted canned goods, coffee, water, biscuits, and noodles. APRIโs quick action provided critical support to families and individuals who were evacuated from their homes due to the dangers posed by Typhoon Kristine such as flooding, storm surge, landslides and windswept. The distribution of essential supplies has helped meet the immediate needs of those affected, offering comfort and aid as they face the challenges of displacement.
With the province-wide outage after the typhoon, APRI also provided its communities with charging stations, enabling residents to charge their emergency appliances and cellular phones.
โOur cellular phones serve as one of our lifelines during calamity. We provided these charging stations as an urgent response while the team is preparing for the relief operationโ, said APRI Assistant Vice President for APRI Tiwi Geo Facilities Jose Lachica.
In the official Facebook page of the Municipality of Tiwi, APRI got recognized with its relief efforts, โKatabang ta man ang mga pribadong indibidwal asin mga kompanya arog kan AP Renewables Inc. tanganing mataparan an mga pangangaipo kan satong evacuees.โ (โTogether, with the help of private individuals and companies like APRI, we were able to address the urgent needs of our evacueesโ).
โOur promise for our community is most tested in times of need. We are thankful for the support of AFI and the quick response and resilience of our volunteers from APRI and our LGUsโ, said APRI Vice President for Corporate Services Leonardo L. Robel, Jr.
Last year, APRI-Tiwi also donated 20 handheld radios that have been useful during the rescue operations of the Tiwi Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) volunteers.|
