Calaca City celebrates 188th Founding Anniversary, Calacatchara Festival

CalacAtchara is back!

For the first time after becoming a component city, the City of Calaca will celebrate Calaca CalacAtchara Festival 2023, Pagdiriwang ng ika- 188 na Araw ng Calaca from May 1-10, 2023. With the over-all theme “Calaca Rising: Higher Power”, the 10-day celebration will embody Calaca’s colorful history and culture, underscoring its remarkable and memorable transition.

This year’s Calacatchara Festival was made possible through the able leadership of Mayor Sofronio “Nas” C. Ona, Jr., giving the emphasis on Calaca’s significant milestone being the first city in Westem Batangas and the power it holds for the future of Calacazen community.

On May 01, an opening program will serve as symbolic gesture, capturing the over-all significance of the festival. Senator Christopher “Bong” Go will grace the occasion in solidarity with Calacazens. Major events of the celebration include the following:

May 1-10, 2023 – GREEN POWER: CALACA CITY AGRI-FAIR.

May 1-9, 2023 – POWER OF STORY: CALACA CITY FILM FESTIVAL.

May 3, 2023 POWER WITHIN: MS. GAY CALACA CITY 2023.

May 5, 2023 EMPOWERED WOMEN: Bb. LUNGSOD NG CALACA 2023.

May 6, 2023 – CALASCOPE STREET DANCE & EXHIBITION.

May 7, 2023 POWER OF LIGHT FLOAT PARADE: ILLUMINATING THE CITY OF CALACA.

May 9, 2023 GAWAD PARANGAL GRAND POWER BALL HIGHER POWER AWARD.

May 10, 2023 – ARAW NG CALACA MAYOR’S NIGHT.

Other events will also give life to the celebration such as Horseback Riding, Mountain Bike Challenge, Car and Motor Show, Job Fair, Barangay Power Up Challenge, Power Pups Dog Show, Power Play Inter-Barangay League, Photo Exhibit, Fun Run & Zumba and Ground breaking Ceremony for the City Hall Annex Building and National Government Center. Indeed, Calacatchara Festival symbolizes the historic and dynamic journey of Calacazens: 188 years of weaving the city’s cultural tapestry while in pursuit for greater heights of socioeconomic growth. With the core of its power coming from the humble beginnings of the forerunners of its civilization, undeniably, the City of Calaca will continue to soar higher, conquering opportunities for a better and brighter tomorrow.|
