The Department of Health (DOH) – CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) together with local government officials of the province yesterday officially opened the quarantine facility for Covid-19 patients located at the Lipa Academy of Sports, Culture, and Arts (LASCA) beside KLL in Barangay Dagatan, Lipa City, Batangas.

“The quarantine/isolation facility will complement the results of the Red Cross’ testing laboratory in the city because once you are found out to be positive, the local government can isolate you immediately and place you in quarantine so as not to affect others and spread the virus,” Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo stated during the ribbon cutting and turn-over ceremony of the Lipa City Quarantine Facility on October 2, 2020.

“Ang importante ay mahinto ang pagkalat ng covid sa komunidad. Our goal of establishing quarantine and isolation facilities in every province/municipality is to slow the spread of the virus para yung mga taong nangangailangan ng medical attention will not overwhelm the hospitals in the area at dito natin sila aalagaan at ilalagay,” he disclosed.

The quarantine/isolation facility has 128 isolation rooms that will be used for COVID-19 patients.

The provincial government of Batangas is discouraging home quarantine and will be implementing an ordinance to discontinue with the practice and will provide more facilities that will be used for isolation of patients found positive of the virus.

As of October 1, 2020, Batangas has a total of 7,015 covid 19 cases, 2,857 of these are active cases. There were 3,985 recoveries with 173 deaths.

CALABARZON has 39,642 cases with 21,811 recoveries and 929 deaths.

Batangas is the only province in CALABARZON who is under the General Community Quarantine status. “This only proves that local governments in the province are one in keeping and protecting the health and welfare of the people,” Janairo added.

Janairo also said that the regional office together with congressional representatives of the province has begun restructuring the health system of Batangas to better serve and provide quality health service that are really needed by the community.

“There will be improvements in various health facilities including relocation and expansion of the regional hospitals and establishment of a multi-specialty hospital with a heart, lung. kidney and cancer center that will cater to the various needs of the people.”

“There is still no vaccine developed against the covid virus. Napakaimportante pa rin na mag-ingat para sa sarili. Face mask at social distancing pa rin ang kinakailangan upang hindi tayo tamaan ng sakit,” Janaido emphasized.

The LASCA Quarantine/Isolation Facility was made possible through the efforts of the City local government of Lipa headed by Mayor Eric Africa, Congresswoman Vilma Santos-Recto, Senator Ralph Recto, and DPWH 4th District Engineering Office and the Jesus V. Del Rosario Faoundation, Inc. |-BNN
