DOH recods highest CoVid-19 cases in CALABARZON in a day

THE Department of Health (DOH) – CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) yesterday recorded the highest number of positive COVID-19 individuals in the region with 1,175 cases which is 139.80% higher than October 12, 2020 with only 490 cases.

A total of 45,068 individuals are tested positive of the virus.

“Presently, the province of Cavite has the most number of active cases recorded with 5,414 cases ang Laguna still has the highest covid cases at 13,555, Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo stated.

“With the additional laboratory testing centers that we have established mas madali pa nating malalaman kung gaano karami ang apektado ng covid, kasama na dito ang kasalukuyang ginagawang swab testing activities ng ating mga LGUs, mas maagapan pa natin ang pagdami ng mga kaso,” he added.

From the October 13, 2020 DOH COVID-19 Situation Report for CALABARZON, from the 45,068 cases, 15,203 are active cases, 557 are probable cases with 28,842 recoveries and 1,023 deaths.

According to Director Janairo, a total of 21 laboratory testing facilities have applied for accreditation and there are 13 laboratory testing centers in the region that are already at Stage 5 accreditation.

“All of the accredited laboratories are testing 6,348 cases a day and the Philippine Red Cross – Batangas Chapter has the highest testing capacity at 3,240 a day while the GeneXpert Testing of RAKKK Prophet Medical Center, Inc. has the lowest at 32 per day.”

“We are encouraging other health facilities in the region to apply for accreditation so that we can have more testing centers to accommodate the growing number of cases in order to provide faster results,” he urged.CALABARZON has the most number of registered health facilities in the country at 14%. |-BNN
