Lechon Master challenge, tampok sa October Black Feast 2019

UMABOT sa 12 mga kalahok mula sa ilang mga lalawigan ng CALABARZON Region ang nagtagisan ng galing para makapagluto ng pinakamasarap at pinakamalasang lechon mula sa native o katutubong baboy sa Provincial DREAM Zone, Capitol Compound, Lungsod ng Batangas, Oktubre 28.

Ito ang naging pangunahing aktibidad sa isinagawang October Black Feast 2019, na tinaguriang Feast of the Native Pig, ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Batangas, sa pangunguna ng Office of the Provincial Veterinarian.  Isa ito sa magkakasabay na aktibidad sa matagumpay at kauna-unahang paglulunsad ng Batangas Agro-Industrial Summit.

Ayon kay Provincial Veterinarian, Dr. Romelito Marasigan, pangunahing layunin ng patimpalak ang maipakita sa publiko na ligtas kumain ng baboy, sa kabila ng banta ng African Swine Fever, na kinakaharap ng hog industry sa kasalukuyan.  Nais ding maipamalas sa Black Feast ang potensiyal ng pamumuhunan sa native pigs bilang livestock at food supply.

Itinanghal na Lechon Master 2019 Champion sina Reynald B. Ilagan at Jonjie Domingo ng Banaba South, Batangas City.  Nagwagi namang 2nd placer sina Adrian Villena at John Avel Acejo ng Lungsod ng Lucena, Quezon, at 3rd placer sina Christian Jay Padeo at Renato Bermudez, na mula rin sa Quezon Province.

Aktibo ring nakibahagi sa aktibidad sina Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar, DA Regional Executive Director ng Region IV-A, Engr. Arnel De Mesa, at Gov. DoDo Mandanas.|VIA / Eric Arellano
