THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has recorded at least 50 quakes in the past 12 hours from 12:03 in the morning to 12:12 noon on Wednesday with epicenter spotted at Lubang in Occidental Mindoro.
Three (3) of said quakes were recorded at magnitudes 4.6 (2:15 a.m. at 074 km S 89° W of Lubang) , 4.0 (3:49 a.m. at 088 km N 84° W of Lubang) and 5.3 (8:08 a.m. at 082 km N 70° W of Lubang, all in Occidental Mindoro). The epicenters of the three stronger quakes are relatively near each other, thereby alarming the communities.
The PHIVOLCS said that the magniture 5.3 earthquake at 8:08 in the morning is an aftershock of the earlier magnitude 4.0 earthquake at 3:49 a.m. which is like the magnitude 4.6 earthquake at 2:15 a.m. are both considered an aftershocks of the magnitude 6.4 earthquake last Monday.
