MANILA, Philippines — THE Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is working round-the-clock to restore service in areas hit by power outages due to the intensified southwest monsoon rains brought by Super Typhoon Nando.
The power distributor also remains on heightened alert for the possible impact of a new tropical depression, which is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility and will be locally named Opong.
As of 2 PM, approximately 16,000 customers were affected by service interruptions —majority are in Cavite and Quezon province.
“We assure our customers that our crews are working tirelessly to safely restore power in affected areas. We urge everyone to observe electrical safety, especially in flood-prone areas,” Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga said.
“We also continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure timely response to electricity service concerns that may arise because of the inclement weather,” he added.
To report power outages and other concerns, customers may reach Meralco through its official social media pages on Facebook (www.facebook.com/meralco) and Twitter (@meralco). They may also text their concerns to 0920- 9716211 and 0917-5516211 or contact the Meralco Hotline at 16211.| – Balikas.net
