A Filipino Balik Scientist bagged the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) COFUND Fellowship, the flagship funding programme of the European Union for doctoral education and post training of researchers, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has announced last Friday.
The agency congratulated Dr. Ryan L. Arevalo for bagging the fellowship, which is managed by the European Research Executive Agency (REA) on behalf of the European Commission (EC).
“Congratulations to our 2019 Balik Scientist, Dr. Ryan L. Arevalo! Dr. Arevalo was granted the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND Fellowship with his research entitled “Nanoporous Material Based Methane Partial Oxidation Catalysts”,” it wrote on Facebook.
“Your Balik Scientist family is very proud of you. We wish you the best in all your endeavors!”
Dr. Arevalo’s host institution will be the University of Limerick in Ireland, and he will be working on an approved research entitled “Nano-Porous Material Methane Based Oxidation Catalysts”
Meanwhile, the MSCA-COFUND is part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions program. 5 different types of grants are available in the MSCA program, aiming to set up different types of training networks or training programs. Other grants fund fellowships or events to increase the popularity of science in society.
