MANILA, Philippines — POPE Francis has appointed Kalookan Bishop and president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Pablo David as among the 21 new cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church, the Vatican News reported Sunday, October 6.
The 21 new ‘princes’ of the Church will be formally created in a consistory in the Vatican on December 8, 2024, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The consistory will fall before the opening of the 2025 Jubilee of Hope and after the conclusion of the Second Session of the Synod on Synodality in the Vatican.
Of the 21 new cardinals, 10 are from Europe, six (6) of whom are Italians; six (6) from the Americas; six (6) are from South America; four (4) are Asians, and an African.
