TINANGHAL na National Winner sa 2018 Local Legislative Award, Component Cities Category, ang Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Batangas dahilan sa mga mahahalagang batas na naipasa nito at sa mahusay na performance at pangangasiwa ng naturang konseho.
Ang parangal ay ipinagkaloob ng Philippine Councilors League (PCL) at ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa awarding ceremony sa Waterfront Hotel, Cebu City, June 19, kung saan may 14 na component cities ang naglaban laban.
Personal na tinanggap ng mga miyembro ng konseho sa pangunguna ni Vice-Mayor Dr. Jun Berberabe ang plake at cash prize na P250,000 mula kay DILG Secretary Eduardo Aรฑo at National PCL Chairman Danny Dayanghirang.
Nagsilbing batayan sa pagpili ng mga nagwagi ay ang โresponsiveness of the legislative agenda, availability of legislative documents, effectiveness of the performance of the Sanggunian including the processes and procedures and quality of office set up and staff complement, efficiency of performance, legislative citations and awards, capacity development for legislators and staff.โ
Ayon kay Secretary to the Sangguniang Panglungsod Atty. Olive Telegatos โako ay masaya at proud na nakuha namin ang award na ito. All these years the SP wanted to send a message to the City Hall people โ that the SP is a vital arm of the city government and we always aim to give our best para maipagmalaki kami ng City Hall. This one delivered that message.โ
Ilan sa mga mahahalagang ordinansang naipasa noong nakaraang taon ay ang Health and Sanitation Code, Gender and Development Code at Child and Youth Welfare Code.
Naipasa rin ang mga ordinansang requirements ng Seal of Good Local Governance kagaya ng Promoting a Drug Free Batangas City, Forced Pre-emptive Evacuation,, at Regulation of the Manufacture, Sale, Distribution and Use of Fire Crackers. Naipasa din nila ang volume 2 ng Code of General Ordinances.|
