Three 3rd-termer and three new solons elected in Batangas

THREE congressional representatives of Batangas retain their positions while three (3) other new legislators were elected in the May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections.

Batangas City’s Lone District Congressman Marvey Marino was reelected for a third term, together with Congresswoman Lianda Bolilia of the 4th District, and Congresswoman Ma. Theresa Collantes of the 3rd District.

Congressman-elect Eric Buhain will succeed his wife, outgoing Congresswoman Eileen E. Buhain of the 1st District; lawyer Gerville Reyes-Luistro is the Congresswoman-elect of the 2nd District; while outgoing Senator Ralph G. Recto will replace his wife, Congresswoman Vilma Santos-Recto in Lipa City’s Lone District.

Marino got a landslide victory with 152,280 votes over Carlito Bisa with only a handful 13,162 votes. Bolilia with 184,163 votes defeated former Taysan mayor Victor Portugal with 67,915 votes. Bolilia defeated Portugal for the first time in 2019 elections. Collantes got 224,371 votes defeated Tanauan City mayor Mary Angeline Halili with 106,785 votes, Talisay mayor Gerry Natanauan with 31,074 votes, and mediaman Nestor Burgos with 5,968 votes.

On the other hand, Buhain emerged victorious with 143,573 votes and defeated his sister-in-law Lisa Ermita with 127,421 votes, together with lawyer Gerardo Manalo with 42,192 votes, and Luisito Ruiz with 3,839 votes.

Luisto with 71,832 votes inched Dr. Ma. Reina Abu with 68,208 votes, and lawyer Nicasio Conti with 26,193 votes.

Recto run unopposed and got 161,540 votes.|-BNN/Joenald Medina Rayos
