IN a collaborative effort to bolster environmental conservation, AP Renewables Inc. (APRI) and Aboitiz Construction Inc. (ACI), in partnership with the National Power Corporation (NPC) and Mt. Malarayat Environmental Protection Council Inc., hosted a tree-planting event at Mt. Patagin in Alaminos, Laguna last June 15, 2024.

The event saw the enthusiastic participation of 88 participants from a diverse group of individuals, including members of the barangay government units of Sta. Rosa and Palma in Alaminos. Together, they planted 1,640 Narra seedlings, strategically timed with the onset of the rainy season to enhance the seedlings’ survival rate.

Mt. Patagin, part of the expansive Mt. Malarayat Mountain Range, spans the provinces of  Quezon, Batangas, and Laguna. It falls under the protective oversight of the NPC’s Watershed Management Department, which ensures the area’s ecological preservation. With the collaboration of NPC and the barangay LGU of Sta. Rosa, the growth and development of the newly-planted seedlings will be diligently monitored.

For Ehren Louise de Dios, ACI employee, taking part in this sustainable initiative is fulfilling and has fostered the spirit of camaraderie among his co-employees and the community as well.

Mr. Leonardo Robel, APRI’s Vice President for Corporate Services said, ”Planting a tree is a good deed that will make the world a better place. We have to manage the resources that we have today for the benefit of the next generations to come – and that is sustainability. ”

This initiative underscores Aboitiz’s promise of Advancing Business and Communities as it co-creates ecological conservation efforts with its partners, especially the local communities.|
