MANILA, Philippines – TOP American researchers with stellar publication records and Filipino medical experts had shared the latest scientific evidence and best treatment protocols during the first Philippine COVID-19 Summit on Nov. 25, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., organized by the Concerned Doctors and Citizens of the Philippines (CDC Ph).

Headlining the list of speakers were Dr. Peter McCullough, an internist, cardiologist, epidemiologist, in academic medical practice in Dallas, Texas, and Dr. Pierre Kory, a pulmonary and intensive care specialist.

McCullough is American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certified for internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. He manages common infectious diseases as well as cardiovascular complications from both viral infections and injuries developing after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

McCullough has been a leader in the medical response to the COVID-19 pandemic and has published, “Pathophysiological Basis and Rationale for Early Outpatient Treatment of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Infection,” the first synthesis of sequenced multidrug treatment of ambulatory patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 in the American Journal of Medicine, and subsequently updated in Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine.

McCullough has 51 peer-reviewed publications on the infection and has commented extensively on the medical response to the COVID-19 crisis in TheHill and on FOX NEWS Channel.

Kory has led his intensive care unit (ICU) in New York during the initial surge of infections in May for five straight weeks; he then travelled to run ICUs in Greenville, South Carolina and Milwaukee, WI when both cities experienced surges in infections.

Kory has co-authored five influential papers on COVID-19, the most impactful of which is the first medical study that supports the diagnosis of early COVID-19 respiratory disease as organizing pneumonia, thus explaining the critical response of the disease to corticosteroids.

The three other US-based physicians who will be speaking are Drs. Marivic Villa, Sabine Hazan, and Ryan Cole.

Villa is currently practicing in The Villages, Florida, one of the world’s largest retirement communities with more than 150,000 residents; she specializes in pulmonary and critical care, functional and anti-aging medicine, and is a certified provider of bio-identical hormone replacement and nutrition therapy.

Hazan is the first female to be accepted into the University of Florida as a Clinical Gastroenterology Fellow and is the founder and chief executive officer of Progenabiome, a genetic sequencing research laboratory, where she has led more than 35 studies investigating the role of gut flora in combating various diseases.

Cole, a board-certified dermatopathologist and the chief operating officer and medical director of Cole Diagnostics based in Idaho, has been working as an independent pathologist since 2004.

The two Filipino medical experts speaking during the summit were Drs. Rafael Castillo and Allan Landrito.

Castillo is the youngest doctor to serve as President of Philippine Heart Association of the Philippine College of Cardiology, when he assumed the position back in 1993 at 39 years old; he was a professor in cardiovascular medicine at the Adventist University of the Philippines until June 2020.

Landrito is a proponent of early-treatment protocols and prophylaxis regimens that build up natural resistance against COVID-19, which prevents the onset of severe symptoms that could lead to costly hospitalizations or death.
