A4 Priority Group in CALABARZON starts receiving COVID Vacine

AS part of Labor Day celebration, workers in CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) yesterday were given their first shot of Covid-19 vaccine to provide them additional protection as they continue to do business and work for our people.

The “Symbolic Vaccination Roll-out to Selected Priority A4” was led by Department of Health (DOH) – CALABARZON Assistant Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco at the Calamba Doctors Hospital, Calamba City, Laguna on May 1, 2021.

“The A4 group comprises the economic sectors and they are also the most exposed because they directly interact with the public. We need to provide them the protection they need for their safety and also that of their clients,” Sydiongco emphasized.

Among those who received their first dose of Sinovac jabs were from the transportation, manufacturing, food at janitorial service sector.

On April 15, 2021, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has approved the vaccination of Priority Group A4 which includes commuter transport (land, air, and sea), including logistics; public and private wet and dry market vendors; frontline workers in groceries, supermarkets, delivery services; workers in manufacturing for food, beverage, medical and pharmaceutical products; frontline workers in food retail, including food service delivery; frontline workers in private and government financial services; and frontline workers in hotels and accommodation establishments.

Also included in the Priority Group A4 list are priests, rabbis, imams, and other religious leaders; security guards/ personnel assigned in offices, agencies, and organizations identified in the list of priority industries/sectors; frontline workers in private and government news media; customer-facing personnel of telecoms, cable and internet service providers, electricity distribution and water distribution utilities; frontline personnel in basic education and higher education institutions and agencies; and overseas Filipino workers, including those scheduled for deployment within two months.

Frontline workers in law/justice, security, and social protection sectors; frontline government workers engaged in the operations of government transport system, quarantine inspection; worker safety inspection and other COVID-19 response activities; frontline government workers in charge of tax collection, assessment of businesses for incentives, election, national ID, data collection personnel; diplomatic community and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) personnel in consular operations; and the Department of Public Works and Highways personnel in charge of monitoring government infrastructure projects are also part of the Priority Group A4 list.

Sydiongco assured that the sectors included in the A4 lists will be receiving their Covid jabs through the established vaccination centers in their area.

“I encouraged all individuals included in the A4 group to enlist and get vaccinated. It is better to have additional protection against the virus than not at all.”

The regional office was joined by officials and staff of the Department of Labor and Employment – Calabarzon, Laguna Provincial Health Office and Calamba City Health Office during the ceremonial vaccination activity.|
