NIYANIG ng lindol ang Lalawigan ng Batangas, at mga kalapit probinsya sa Timog Katagalugan, ganap na alas-10:59 ng gabi ng araw ng Lunes, Agosto 22.

Ayon sa ulat ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, nairekord ang pagyanig sa lakas na Magnitude 4.4 (unang naiulat ng Phivolcs na 4.2) at sumentro sa may 11 kilometrong lalim sa 13.70°N, 120.88°E – 004 km N 13° E ng island municiaplity ng Tingloy, Batangas.

Nadama ang naturang pagyanig sa lakas na Intensity III sa Batangas City at Malvar sa Batangas; Intensity II sa Tagaytay City sa Cavite; at Calapan City sa Oriental Mindoro; samantalang Intensity I naman sa Calatagan, Batangas; Magallanes, Cavite; San Pablo, Laguna; at Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro.

Naiulat din na may lakas na Intensity IV sa Tingloy, Mabini, Alitagtag, Bauan, Santa Teresita, San Luis, and Batangas City sa Batangas; Intensity III naman sa Tagaytay City; Malvar, Taysan, Laurel, Mataas na Kahoy, Agoncillo, Lipa, Cuenca, Lemery, Lobo, Taal, San Jose, Padre Garcia, at San Pascual, sa Batangas; at Intensity II naman sa Tanauan City, Talisay, Rosario, Calatagan, San Juan, Balayan, at bayan ng Calaca sa Batangas.

Wala namang inasahang aftershocks at wala rin agad naitalang pagkasira ng mga ari-arian dahil sa naturang pagyanig.|-BNN News / jmr
