THE AboitizPower’s new rooftop solar unit recently inaugurated its first project, highlighting its entry into this small-scale market segment while expanding its already diverse Cleanergy portfolio.

The new unit, AboitizPower Distributed Energy Inc. (APX), began operating the 100-kilowatt installation on top of the Aboitiz and Co. office in Cebu City in March and has since been delivering clean and renewable energy to building tenants like ACO, AboitizPower, AboitizLand, and Pilmico, among others.

“We want to show customers our confidence in the technology and its capability by putting it on our own roof,” APX general manager Jose Rafael Mendoza said.
Mendoza said they estimate over Php 1.1 million on energy cost savings for the first year of operations, which is equivalent to planting 12,000 trees, and a return on investment after seven and a half years.

AboitizPower first entered the solar power market in 2016 with its 59-MWp San Carlos Sun (Sacasun) project in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental. To date, AboitizPower has 1,272 MW of net sellable capacity, together with its partners, through its Cleanergy brand.|

He added that they are working closely with AboitizPower’s retail electricity suppliers (RES) as an added value service to AP contestable customers as well as internal customers within the Aboitiz Group.

The company is also looking at several other projects in Luzon and Visayas, some of which are set for completion in 2018.

One with the Aboitiz Group purpose of advancing business and communities, Mendoza said he hopes this latest project will encourage others to pursue their own sustainability efforts and that utilizing distributed energy such as rooftop solar is a real step forward for those who want to do so.

Banking on AboitizPower’s more than 80 years of experience in the industry, Mendoza also said they can help customers meet their requirements through a secure and long-term partnership.| #BALIKAS_News

The 100-kW installation covers the rooftop area of ACO’s south building. The ACO office building or Aboitiz Corporate Center is located along Gov. Manuel A. Cuenco Avenue in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City.
