SM Lipa’s luggage boy wins PMAP Award for his inspiring video

Christian “Xian” Tecson the sales clerk from SM City Lipa was awarded by the People Management Association of the Philippines for his video that went viral since June this year.  His award is the Video that Inspired People (VIP) Award and was handed to him last November 28, 2018 at the Harbor Garden Tent in Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City during the PMAP Makatao Awards Night.

Christian Tecson (second from right) receives the Video that Inspired (VIP) Award from (from left) PMAP Executive Director Rene Gener, Vice President Mitch Guce, Trustee Ellen Fullido and judges Brian Casillano of Adobo Magazine and Rory Visco of Mode Devi PR. |

According to its website, the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) is a professional, non-stock, not-for-profit organization of over 1,800 member companies and individual management executives engaged or interested in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Industrial Relations (IR) work.

Founded more than 59 years ago, PMAP continues the tradition of its forefathers in advancing the profession of Human Resource ManagementEvery year, PMAP organizes the PMAP Makatao Awards which recognizes media outlets, programs and personalities who have been tantamount in telling stories about people management.

This year a special citation was given to Tecson for his enthusiastic sales spiel which was captured by two SM customers – Nala Zamora and Brew Alcazar.  It was uploaded on Facebook last June and had already reached as of this time more than 4 million views.

According to Esquire Philippines, “Tecson was genuinely talented, and he was genuinely charming. He was neither self-conscious nor falsely self-deprecating; he truly seemed like he just wanted to show off this wonderful piece of luggage, and enjoyed every second of it. When the customer made an off-color joke, he blithely shrugged it off like a pro.”

While doing splits and dancing is not part SM’s professional training, Tecson, in his acceptance speech, intimated that SM has given him confidence by developing his sales and communication skills.

“Nagtatrabaho po tayo, hindi lang po para sa ating sarili at sa company, nagtatrabaho po tayo para sa kasayahan ng ating customers at ng bawat isa” (“We work not just for ourselves or for our company, we work so we can make our customers and each other happy”), Tecson continued.|

AboitizPower subsidiary AP Renewables, Inc. (APRI) successfully retained its Integrated Management System (IMS) certification, which covers Quality Management (ISO 9001:2015), Environmental Management (ISO 14001:2015), and Occupational Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001:2007).

TÜV Rheinland Philippines, an affiliate of TÜV Rheinland and one of the  leading certification bodies for various international standards in the country, issued the recertification after completing a thorough review of the processes and practices across APRI’s power plants in the provinces of Albay, Batangas, and Laguna in November 2018.

“This only proves that the organization is committed to improve their management systems and that they conform to world-class standards,” Tristan Arwen Loveres, TÜV Rheinland Philippines Managing Director, said.

“Our company is extremely proud of this milestone, which reflects our solid commitment of providing ample and reliable power supply at a reasonable and competitive price while mitigating environmental risks and providing equal importance to the safety of our employees and the welfare of communities we serve,” Alex B. Coo, APRI President and COO, said.

In 2015, APRI received its first IMS certification. Since then, the company has continued its work beyond compliance and created a culture of excellence as part of the way of life of its employees. This year, APRI has likewise celebrated the milestone of twenty million aggregate man-hours without any lost time due to accidents.

In 2019, APRI aims to upgrade its Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certification to ISO 45001:2018, which will strengthen the company’s opportunity and risk management in terms of OHS.

Emmanuel V. Rubio, AboitizPower Chief Operating Officer, said that this recertification is in line with AboitizPower’s ultimate goal to be the power partner and neighbor of choice of its stakeholders.

“As we strive to become the power partner and neighbor of choice of our stakeholders, we continue to improve our systems and processes, ensuring that these are up-to-date and aligned with globally recognized standards and best practices,” Rubio said.|

In line with his desire to provide quality public service, Go assured that he will serve as the public’s bridge to the national government and to the President.

When he was asked about what he can do to solve the problem of traveling and delivering goods from Luzon to Visayas, Go said he will check on the status of the proposed Sorsogon-Samar bridges that would connect the islands of Bicol to Eastern Visayas.

Go also assured the crowd that President Rodrigo Duterte is allotting adequate resources for the development of Bicol region. He cited several projects under the government’s Build Build Build program, especially the Sorsogon–Samar bridges and the Bicol International Airport.

He also highlighted other projects that the Duterte administration is undertaking to bring in more development to Bicol region. These include the expansion of the Naga Airport in the town of Pili, the modernization of the Philippine National Railways line, the CamSur West Coast Tourism Highway that will connect the towns of Balatan, Pasacao and Ragay, and the Bicol River bridge that will connect the town of Libmanan to Naga City.

In the same event, Go also said that he plans to push for measures that will make it easier for Filipinos to access government services in line with his ‘Malasakit para sa tao’ platform. According to Go, first on his agenda is to provide each and every Filipino quality healthcare programs by establishing more Malasakit Centers all throughout the nation.

The Malasakit Center is a ‘one stop shop’ where indigent patients can ask for financial assistance from various government agencies, such as the Department of Health, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philhealth, PAGCOR, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

A Malasakit Center was launched in Legazpi, Albay a month ago to cater to the medical needs of Bicolanos. Go said he would keep on helping the government establish more Malasakit Centers nationwide and push to institutionalize it into a law so that every province will have a center in their locality.|

‘Bool for Vice Governor’, walang ng kapalit!

0

By JOENALD MEDINA RAYOS

PPI facilitates 1st LGBTQ Congress in Bicol

0

IN an unprecedented effort, and for the first time in its long history of conceptualizing and conducting training programs for its members and the media in general, the Philippine Press Institute (PPI), also known as the national association of newspapers since 1964, will help facilitate the first congress of the LGBTQ community on December 1 in Legazpi City.

The PPI has been tapped by local organizer Kusog Bikolandia to help facilitate its landmark event that will cater to and be attended by members of the LGBTQ sector. Titled ““Engaging LGBTQ for Community-Building and in Nation-Building Through Narratives” will put to the fore the challenges and interests of the vulnerable community in terms of knowing their legal rights, access to health services, and portrayal in media.

Around 300 participants from the LGBTQ community all over Bicol Region invited by Kusog Bikolandia, are expected to attend the first congress to address various issues surrounding LGBTQ. “It’s high time we convene them and give them a venue to raise their concerns that our leaders should take cognizance of,” said Noel De Luna, founder and chairman of Kusog Bikolandia.

Kusog Bikolandia is a new breed of regional political party formed in Bicol by businessmen and former government officials as an alternative political party that seeks new and young leaders in the region. “In this congress of the so-called marginalized and highly vulnerable sector and community, various issues and challenges confronting them will be put to the fore, whereby giving them a platform to express their sentiments and aspirations for themselves and the country,” De Luna said.

KB also aims to champion genuine social equality, where every Bicolano shall be given access to the same basic needs: quality health services, education, livelihood, emergency assistance, pension and shelter (HELPS).

The PPI believes that being tapped to help conduct this initiative is well withing its mandate and flagship of “building better communities”. “I see this as a stepping stone to coming up with guidelines on reporting on the LGBTQ which we actually don’t have yet. We need to be inclusive. To write about them is even necessary to erase age-old problems of discrimination and perceived bad portrayal,” said Ariel Sebellino, PPI executive director.

He further added that there was a discussion years ago about coming up with a training program for this kind of reporting. “Hopefully the local organizers will find it necessary to partner with the PPI for a media training to be able to craft the guidelines, adding to what we already have on children and women.”

Culminating the one-day congress is a workshop that will require the participants to write and present recommendations and programs that will benefit them. Resource persons will be from the Department of Health, Department of Justice, LGU, and media.|#BALIKAS_News

National Children’s Month ipinagdiwang sa Batangas City

0

Wild Things. Animal printed boots with zipper details|

Here’s how you can have high style and fun with Parisian:

  • Take a Bow. Who What Wear UK says that Magda Butrym’s bow-fronted satin mules were the most Instagrammed shoes of the press appointments for A/W 18.  And it’s not surprising. There’s nothing like stepping out for the holidays with a feminine touch.
  • Seeing Clearly.  The Spring ‘18 runway was full of PVC goodies, and Parisian incorporated similar pieces in their collections. This will add a modern touch to your holiday look.
  • Call of the Wild.  Who What Wear UK reports that leopard print prowled many A/W 18 runways, and animal patterns extended to zebra prints at Tom Ford and Balenciaga and (faux) stamped crocodile everywhere else.
  • It’s hip to be square for the holidays. Square-toe flats and sleek bags from Parisian Shoes and Bags|

Kitten Heels.  Love them or hate them, kitten heels are back.  This playful style from Parisian is practical for both fancy events and in the workplace.

  • Square Toes.  While pointed pumps are still very fashionable, Who What Wear UK reports that the hippest out there are opting for square toes. This trend began last summer, but with Loewe, Alexander McQueen, and Victoria Beckham leading the way, the microtrend is set to go macro at Parisian.
  • Sling back Throwback. For a bit of 80s nostalgia, you’ll want to scoop up a pair of sling back shoes with modern touches like pastel shades and kitten heels.

Complete your holiday look with Parisian’s assortment of arm candies: from quilted to studded bags, and round crossbody to evening clutches.

Pagtakbo bilang bise-gobernador, pinabulaanan ni VM Berberabe

0
